Clubs
Chess Club
Chess club is open to all those interested in the sport. Whether or not you're a complete beginner or a pro, there is room for all. We run chess tournaments between the members and hope to get an interfaculty tournament up and running between students and staff too. We are fully equipped with multiple chess boards and also hope to get guest speakers to join us from time to time.
Geek Retreat Club
The Geek Retreat Club is a safe space for all of those who's interests are more niche than others. Whether that be to discuss video games, movies, comics, manga or anime. We offer a place for all fans to gather and make new friends. With screenings of episodes and even some video game tournaments between students its a dynamic place to be. We also have a subscription to a manga comic reading app on ipads to foster an interest in reading for those who may appreciate the addition of incredible drawings to compliment the story. We recently ran an art drawing competition in which students drew characters they liked from various media and some even designed some cosplay. We hope to perhaps get going to comic con too!
Dungeons and Dragons Club
For the dungeons and dragons club, which has now become a tabletop games club, we offer a range of board games, card games and role-playing games alike for students to engage with. Tapping into students' creativity and collaboration, this club offers students a chance to improve their team-work skills and interpersonal skills through novel gaming experiences.
OnlyHumans - Marino College's first GSA club
A GSA club is a gender and sexuality alliance club, sometimes called gay, straights and allies club. Our club is a safe space for everyone to be themselves, relax and have their lunch together. It is also a place for students to discuss LGBTQ+ topics, culture etc and can even be a platform for students to bring issues to light. This is very much a student led club and takes the shape required by our students.
Culture Club
At ‘Culture Club’ we learn about our students' diverse cultures. So far, we have celebrated Black History Month, Romania Day, Lunar New Year and Brigid’s Day and Wear Red Day with fun and educational activities.
